Security cameraThe City of Cedar Rapids has a surveillance camera ordinance in place to reduce potential situations in which employees of certain businesses are exposed to potential death or injury because of the actions of individuals with criminal intent.  Besides acting as deterrent to crime, the surveillance camera technology assists law enforcement with the criminal investigation of crimes that occur at certain businesses.  Investigative information obtained from the surveillance cameras increases the likelihood that persons who commit crimes in these businesses will be brought to justice.  The surveillance cameras ordinance seeks to improve public safety for the business owners, their employees, and the patrons of these businesses.
