Cedar Rapids City Manager Presents FY2020 Budget Proposal

Cedar Rapids City Manager Jeff Pomeranz presented City Council Members with his proposed budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2019 at a special council meeting Tuesday evening, February 5 at 5:30 pm. The budget serves as the City’s financial and spending plan for the year, and the adoption of the budget is undoubtedly the single-most important action taken by the City’s elected officials each year. The proposed budget serves to allocate resources and establish a direction for the City’s programs and services for the coming year.

The proposed budget outlines funding plans for identified Council priorities, including funding of the flood control system, public safety, infrastructure projects, the library, and more. Council is scheduled to vote on the proposed budget on March 12, 2019.

“The 2020 budget has a balanced general fund that will allow the City to continue to provide critical services at the highest level possible, and allocates funding to projects the Council has determined to be a priority for the community as a whole,” said City Manager Jeff Pomeranz.
