Fire Destroys Home at 22 Blake Terrace SE

On Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 2:49 a.m. Cedar Rapids firefighters were dispatched to a 2 1/2 story residence at 22 Blake Terrace SE that reportedly had wires arcing against it. The caller indicated that the home was now on fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and flames showing from back and side of the residence. Fire was also showing in the interior of the home.
Firefighters were advised that it was a vacant structure. Fire crews worked defensively to protect other nearby structures and attack the fire.
Soon after firefighters' arrival, exterior walls and interior floors began collapsing. Fire Department aerial apparatus was used to gain access to the upper stories of the home. Foam was also applied to extinguish the fire.
Firefighters remain on scene to extinguish all hidden hot spots.
The fire is under investigation.
No injuries were reported.
