Police Department Accepting Applications for Police Officer Positions from November 14 – January 12, 2017

The Cedar Rapids Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer.  If you are interested in joining the Police Department’s mission to actively involve everyone in a team effort to serve, protect, and prevent crime and disorder, as well as provide a safe and secure community in an effective and efficient manner, you are encouraged to apply.   Police Officer positions are full-time and offer an opportunity to serve the community.

The Cedar Rapids Police Department is taking applications from Monday, November 14, 2016 through Thursday, January 12, 2017, at 4:00 p.m.  Applications can be downloaded by visiting the Cedar Rapids Police website at www.cedar-rapids.org/police. Those interested in applying who do not have access to a computer and/or printer can pick up an application packet at the Police Station at 505 1st Street SW.  If you reside over 50 miles from the Police Station, you may call (319) 286-5440 and an application will be mailed.  Once completed, the application can be sent through electronic mail, regular mail delivery, or dropped off at the Police Station with the proper documents in order. 

The hiring process is an intense and competitive process. The following is a schedule of important dates for the 2016 recruitment process for Police Officer applicants:

 

November 14, 2016 – January 12, 2017 - Applications Accepted

February 4, 2017 (a.m.) - Physical Agility Test

February 4, 2017 (p.m.) - Written Test

February 6-7, 2017 - Polygraph Screenings

February 20 – March 10, 2017 -Polygraphs

 

Applicants will be notified of further test dates after March 21, 2017.

Starting salary for Police Officer positions is $52,499 annually, along with a City of Cedar Rapids benefit package that includes medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits.
