Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week – April 9th through April 15th, 2017
The National Animal Care & Control Association is celebrating its annual Animal Control Officer (ACO) Appreciation Week. Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week is designed to promote and recognize the hard-working men and women of Animal Control that risk their lives and spend huge amounts of personal resources, including time away from family and friends, while serving the public. Each year, ACO’s spend thousands of hours protecting the welfare of helpless animals from injury, disease and starvation, while promoting public safety.
Please take a moment this week to visit the Cedar Rapids Animal Care & Control Facebook page or stop by the shelter to say “Thank You”. Thank them for:
• rushing in when everyone else is running away;
• taking the bite they knew was coming without regrets;
• treating the animals with respect, care, and compassion;
• waking up at 2 a.m. to help without question when they’re called;
• filing the charges and going to court on behalf of the voiceless victims; and
• going to work each day knowing they can’t save them all, but giving it everything they have anyway.
You can also lend a hand volunteering, or make a donation to help care for the many homeless animals rescued by our community’s dedicated Animal Control Department.
