Fully Involved Young Women’s Fire Academy

The Cedar Rapids Fire Department is encouraging young women between the ages of 15 and 19 years of age to participate in the first-ever “Fully Involved Young Women’s Fire Academy.”

Young women who have thought about a career as a firefighter are encouraged to participate in this brand new program.  Participants will put on firefighter turnout gear and an air pack, conduct search and rescue drills, get certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and take the physical qualification test.  The Academy is designed to teach leadership and team-building skills.

The Young Women’s Fire Academy will be held from July 31st – August 3rd from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day.  The cost of the Academy is only $30.
