Three Arrested for Attempted Murder for March 11th Shooting

Three Arrested for Attempted Murder for March 11th Shooting

Police officers received a report of gunshots fired in the area of 16th Street and 1st Avenue East at 6:50 p.m. on March 11th.  Officers were advised that subjects had taken off running from the Coin Kleen Laundromat at 220 16th Street NE and that there was a victim inside the laundromat.

Based on the subsequent investigation, the following individuals have been charged:

Malachi Free Handley, DOB/11-12-2000, age 16, Cedar Rapids, was charged with Attempted Murder, Willful Injury-Causing Serious Injury, and Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, for firing multiple rounds from a handgun at a 14-year old male victim, striking and seriously injuring him twice, and shooting into the Coin Kleen Laundromat at 220 16th Street NE.

Glenn Nichols, DOB/10-19-2001, age 15, of Cedar Rapids, was charged with Attempted Murder, Willful Injury-Causing Serious Injury, and Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon.

Cody Michael Adkins, DOB/08-14-2001, age 15, of Cedar Rapids, was charged with Attempted Murder, Willful Injury-Causing Serious Injury, and Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon.

All three juveniles are currently in custody.
