Traffic Signal Removals

Traffic signal removals have begun in the downtown area as part of ongoing efforts to support slower traffic speeds and increased pedestrian activity. This year, signals are scheduled for removal on 2nd Avenue SE. Signals have already been removed on 2nd Avenue at 7th Street SE and 8th Street SE. 

On Tuesday, August 29, the signals on 2nd Avenue at 2nd St, 3rd St, and 5th St SE will be removed and the intersections will transition to two-way stops.

A summary of traffic signal removals on 2nd Avenue this year includes:

  • 8th Street SE (8th Street operates as thru-street and will not stop for cross traffic)
  • 7th Street SE (7th Street operates as thru-street and will not stop for cross traffic)
  • 2nd Street SE (2nd Avenue becomes thru-street and will not stop for cross traffic)

  • 3rd Street SE (3rd Street becomes thru-street and will not stop for cross traffic)

  • 5th Street SE (5th Street becomes thru-street and will not stop for cross traffic)

  • 13th Street SE (intersection operates as four-way stop)
