City Seeking Input on Pedestrian Master Plan

The City of Cedar Rapids is seeking public input to help shape a new Pedestrian Master Plan. The goal of the plan is to develop an updated priority list of where we need to install new sidewalk, taking into consideration existing transit and trail amenities.

Residents are invited to an interactive workshop:

Wednesday, June 27
5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Cedar Rapids Public Library (450 5th Avenue SE)

The workshop will allow residents to provide feedback on current sidewalk conditions and areas of improvement. The workshop is kid-friendly; activities will be provided for children.

Getting Involved
Public outreach will play a key role in the plan’s update, and there are several ways for residents to share their feedback with the City. Outreach will include both online tools as well as public open houses, workshops with stakeholders, and “pop-up” workstations at local grocery stores and libraries.

Online tools have been designed to encourage interactive feedback – residents can leave comments on the online map and help staff learn problem areas or concerns with connectivity and sidewalk gaps.

SCHEDULE: In addition to the workshop on June 27, several “Pop-up Workshops” are also scheduled where residents can get material on the plan and talk with staff:

• Tuesday, June 26, 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Hy-Vee, 1556 1st Avenue NE

• Thursday, June 28, 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Ladd Library, 3750 Williams Boulevard SW

• Thursday, June 28, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Ground Transportation Center, 450 1st Street SE

Public outreach will run from June to July. A draft plan will be publically presented this winter.
