An additional 418 garden plots are available at Ellis Park (Robins Lake), Tuma Park, Sinclair Park, and near Gardner Golf Course. Sinclair Park includes four accessible raised garden beds. Plots at Sinclair and Lincolnway rent for $21 per plot. Plots at Tuma, Gardner, and Ellis Park are 20-foot-wide by 50-foot-long and rent for $42 per plot. Gardens may be leased at the Northwest Recreation Center, 1340 11th Street NW. Rental opens at 8:00 a.m. on March 12 and continues weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Read More

The Cedar Rapids Police Department (CRPD) received its second CALEA (Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies) Certification for Advanced Law Enforcement status at a formal Commission hearing on Friday and a ceremony Saturday night in Oklahoma City.
K9Splash! at Bever Pool August 5 & 6
K9COLA (Citizens for Off-Leash Areas) and the City of Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation Department are hosting the K9Splash! dog swim at Bever Park Pool in Cedar Rapids.
The event takes place on Saturday, August 5 and Sunday, August 6 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (10 to 11 a.m. for dogs under 15 inches only). Proceeds from K9Splash! benefit off-leash parks in Cedar Rapids and the City of Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation Department.
Registration will be held at Bever Pool on the day of the event starting at 9:30 a.m. both mornings. (Advance registration is not available.) The cost is $15 per dog per day. Proof of vaccinations is required at registration. Learn more at k9cola.org.

Cedar Rapids City Manager, Jeff Pomeranz has selected Roy Hesemann to serve as City of Cedar Rapids Utilities Director. City of Cedar Rapids Transit Service Resumes Monday, May 18
City of Cedar Rapids Transit service will resume beginning Monday, May 18, 2020. Transit Service will be available on weekdays, Monday through Friday from 5:15 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with hourly service on all routes except for Route 5, which will run in 15 minute intervals. There will be no weekday peak service or Saturday service at this time.

The City of Cedar Rapids is lifting the boil order for all areas in the SW Quadrant previously affected. Final testing confirmed water is safe for personal consumption. Results of all samples collected revealed all testing parameters are within normal limits and confirmed that the water is safe for consumption.

City of Cedar Rapids Prepares for Coronavirus (COVID-19)
The City of Cedar Rapids has already initiated both an emergency preparedness plan and a continuity of operations plan, as the safety of our community is our top priority, in the event that the coronavirus (COVID-19) impacts the Cedar Rapids area. (Currently, the risk is low in Iowa.) The City has prepared an emergency operations plan for implementation if there is an increased demand for calls for service because of the coronavirus. Just as importantly, the City has prepared a continuity of operations plan to ensure adequate City staff is available to deliver essential services.
