The Cedar Rapids City Council generally meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month, except toward the end of the year, when the meetings are shifted to the first and third Tuesdays to avoid conflicts with holidays. Meetings are held in the Council Chambers on the third floor of City Hall, the former federal courthouse at 101 First Street SE. Parking is available on nearby streets, including metered spots on 1st Street and the 1st and 2nd Avenue bridges, or in public downtown parking ramps. The public comment period begins after the public hearings are held.

Parking Around City Hall
Temporary parking restrictions will be underway near City Hall during construction of the 1st Avenue floodgate, running March–April 2022. Restrictions are limited to the area near the intersection of 1st Avenue and 1st Street. Additional parking is available along the 1st Avenue Bridge and along 1st Street in front of City Hall. Pedestrian access remains open to City Hall.
Agendas and Council Packets
Agendas and packets for City Council Regular Sessions are posted on the Friday before the meeting at approximately 4:00 p.m. Amendments may be made to the agenda at least 24 hours before the meeting time; in such cases an amended agenda will be posted. Council packets contain draft documents for review purposes only and are subject to change without notice.
The Council will sometimes meet in Special Session at times other than set forth in the adopted Regular Session meeting schedule. Agendas (and packets, when applicable) will be posted at least 24 hours prior to a Special Session unless for good cause such notice is impossible or impractical, in which case as much notice as is reasonably possible shall be given.
