The Fire Marshal's Office consists of three divisions: Fire Inspections, Public Education, and Fire Investigations, and includes ten personnel. The Fire Marshal's Office is made up of the Fire Marshal, Assistant Fire Marshal, four Fire Inspectors, three Fire Investigators, a Project Coordinator and a Public Education Specialists. The Fire Marshal's Office conducts nearly 6,000 inspection activities each year. Fire Marshal's Office staff are involved in several aspects of code enforcement including new and existing building fire inspections, issuing permits, supervising fire crew inspections, and conducting plan reviews.
Our fire prevention inspectors are also involved in sprinkler and smoke detection plans, hazardous materials site assessments, hydrant flow test information, Knox Box authorization and state licenses in daycare and healthcare.
The mission of the Fire Marshal's Office is to establish minimum requirements consistent with nationally recognized good practice for providing a reasonable level of life safety and property protection from the hazards of fire, explosion or dangerous conditions in new and existing buildings, structures and premises and to provide safety to firefighters and emergency responders during emergency operations.
