The Cedar Rapids Fire Department is excited about this opportunity for young women to participate in a Fire Academy. Fully Involved is designed to introduce young women from the age of 16 years old or older to firefighting as a career. The mission of the academy is to provide leadership and career development opportunities in the fire service for women.

To empower, inspire, and support strong women leaders


Goals

Courage -  The quality that allows someone to take on a challenge that is difficult, dangerous, uncertain, or once thought to be beyond reach

Leadership -  The ability to make sound decisions, build trust, and inspire others to be successful in reaching their goals

Attitude -  Choosing to use a positive or “can do” thought process to increase achievement and motivate others

Strong - Having the physical and mental strength to promote confidence and a positive attitude

Steadfast - To be firm and unwavering in purpose, loyalty and resolve

  • Personal Protective Equipment                                             

  • Hoseline Handling

  • Physical Qualification Test

  • Search and Rescue Techniques

  • Fire Extinguisher Training

  • Leadership and Team Building

  • Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)


At this time, there are no anticipated Academy offerings.
