32nd Street NE from Carlisle Street to Oakland Road Pavement Reconstruction
Thank you for your patience. This project was completed on November 3, 2023.
Project improvements included pavement reconstruction, sidewalk infill, water main extension, storm and sanitary sewer improvements, and traffic signal replacement.
These improvements are part of a larger effort to improve 32nd Street from I-380 to 1st Avenue. Previous corridor improvements include:
- 2019 – Reconstruction of the intersection of 32nd Street and Center Point Road
- 2021 – Joint project with the Iowa DOT at the east and west ends of the 32nd Street/Glass Road bridge over I-380
This project expanded those improvements further east towards 1st Avenue. We are excited to see the Paving for Progress program transform our streets and appreciate your patience this construction season!
Project Background:
Planned Improvements:
This project includes pavement reconstruction, sidewalk infill, water main extension, storm and sanitary sewer improvements, and traffic signal replacement. 32nd Street between Carlisle Street and the west side of Oakland Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction for most of the project. Once this segment of roadway is reconstructed, the intersection of Oakland Road will be completely closed from the west side of the intersection through the Hy-Vee gas driveway. All businesses will be open and access to them will be maintained throughout the project.
