Construction Start: May 2025
Project Background:
This project includes the reconstruction of 42nd Street NE from River Ridge Drive to Wenig Road.
Planned Improvements:
The existing roadway width will be maintained as the roadway within the project limits is reconstructed. All sidewalks within the project limits will be replaced and ADA curb ramps and crossings will be added at side roads. Two crossings, located east of Blue Jay and near Kennedy baseball field, will have a refuge median and Rectangular Rapid-Flashing Beacon (RRFB). All storm sewer will be replaced and subdrain will be added. A portion of the aging water main will be replaced (Lexington Boulevard to Westchester Drive). Tree removals will be required to install the new storm sewer and sidewalk; new parkway trees will be planted after construction is completed.
