Parks & Recreation Department To Hold Free Activities at Greene Square

For the second year, the Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department will offer free summer children’s activities at Greene Square. The activities will be held on Thursdays, June 20 through August 1, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on the lawn in Greene Square across from the Cedar Rapids Public Library. Horizons will provide free meals to those ages 18 and under at Noon.

Activities include:
Scavenger Hunt, June 20 – Enjoy a fun scavenger hunt led by Cedar Rapids Public Library staff.
Mascots and Games, June 27 – Play outdoor games on the lawn and win prizes. Listen to music by Sheila Stevens and meet local mascots.
Animals in the Park, July 11 – Meet and interact with animals from Old MacDonald’s Farm.
Lunch Hour Dance Party, July 18 – KZIA Sticker Stop will be at Greene Square and will supply tunes for a summer dance party.
Party in the Park, July 25 –We will bring the bubble machine for bubble fun while you listen to music by Sheila Stevens.
Hunger Games, August 1 – Make some magic with staff from Ushers Ferry as they lead you in games from our Hunger Games Camp.

The library provides additional children’s programs from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. All activities are free to the public and do not require advance registration. The event is sponsored by the Linn Area Community Credit Union.
