Animal Care & Control Shelter Limited Opening

Cedar Rapids Animal Care and Control will have a limited opening beginning Monday, May 10, 2021.  The shelter, located at 7241 Washington View Parkway SW, has been mostly closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The shelter will allow up to two families inside the facility at one time.  A family is considered those residing in the same household that will be living with and caring for the pet they adopt.  

All guests over the age of 2 will need to wear a face mask.  Guests may be required to wait outside of the facility if there are already two families inside looking at the animals available for adoption. 

Animal Care and Control is encouraging appointments for adoptions.  Those seeking to adopt an animal are also encouraged to complete an adoption application prior to arrival to help facilitate the process. Appointments are available by calling (319) 286-5993.  Adoption applications are available at www.cedar-rapids.org/animal.  

Individuals seeking to reclaim or surrender animals, as well as drop off stray animals, are still required to make an appointment by calling (319) 286-5993. 

To celebrate the limited capacity opening, Animal Care and Control is offering a 50 percent discount on adoption fees from May 10-15, 2021. 

Shelter hours are Monday through Saturday from Noon to 5:00 p.m.
