City Conducting Minor Flood Stage Activities; Public Impacts Minimal — August 31, 2021

The City’s Public Works Department is taking measures to address minor flood stage river levels. The Cedar River is projected to crest overnight between Thursday, September 2 and Friday, September 3, at under 11 feet (below minor flood stage), which will have minimal impacts to the general public.

Flood response measures include the closure of low-lying roads and parks, including:

  • Otis Road SE
  • Robbins Lake off Ellis Road NW
  • Manhattan Park pavilion

During elevated river stages, the Public Works and Utilities departments conduct 24/7 observation and monitoring of river levels to address any concerns. The departments remain in close contact with the National Weather Service to monitor changes to these predictions.
