Upcoming Closures of C Avenue NE and Blairs Ferry Road

September 26, 2022

Pavement, utility, signal and pedestrian work continues to move forward on the Lindale Trail Extension — Phase 1 project. Upcoming road closures along C Avenue NE and Blairs Ferry Road will be necessary to allow the contractor to continue work. Message signs are in place, alerting local traffic of impacts and to anticipate travel delays.

Starting at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28:

  • Traffic on C Avenue NE will not be able to cross through the intersection of Blairs Ferry Road.
  • Traffic on Blairs Ferry Road NE will not be able to turn onto C Avenue.
  • The closure is needed so crews can install new sidewalk and ADA ramps, traffic signals, and water main across C Avenue.
  • A signed detour route will be in place, directing traffic to use Collins Road NE, Council Street NE, and Boyson Road NE to navigate around the closure.
  • This work is scheduled to be completed by 5 a.m. on Monday, October 3.

Starting at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, October 5:

  • Traffic on Blairs Ferry Road will not be able to cross through the intersection of C Avenue.
  • Traffic on C Avenue NE will not be able to turn onto Blairs Ferry Road.
  • The closure is needed so crews can install new sidewalk and ADA ramps, traffic signals, and water main across Blairs Ferry Road.
  • A signed detour route will be in place, directing traffic to use Collins Road and Marion Boulevard (to the east) or Council Street (to the west) to navigate around the closure.
  • This work is scheduled to be completed by 5 a.m. on Monday, October 10.

This project includes a tunnel underpass beneath Blairs Ferry Road. Traffic has been shifted to the north lanes of Blairs Ferry Road while crews prepare to place a culvert on the south side of the road. Water main has been relocated and private utility relocations are pending.

In total, this 1.15-mile extension of the Lindale Trail (also known as the Grant Wood Trail) will connect Council Street NE on the west to the existing Lindale Trail near Walgreens on the east. The project is scheduled to be completed this fall.
