Winter Weather Impacting Solid Waste Collections

All Cedar Rapids solid waste collections are canceled for Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023, due to icy roads. Wednesday and Thursday garbage and recycling collection routes will be collected on Thursday, Jan. 5. Collections will be back on schedule for Friday, Jan. 6. Yard waste collection for Wednesday and Thursday will occur on Friday, Jan. 6. As for glass recycling collection, Wednesday and Thursday glass will not be collected until next week. Residents on those routes are asked to hold onto their glass collection until their normal collection day next week, the week of Jan. 9. Friday glass collection will occur on the normal day this week -- Friday, Jan. 6.

Carts can stay at collection areas until picked up -- "when in doubt, leave it out," even with a delay. For collection information, visit CityofCR.com/Garbage.
