Free fares are available to those who qualify:


Students -
 Students attending Cedar Rapids Community School District (CRCSD), Kirkwood Community College, or Coe College are eligible for year-round, no-cost rides on all fixed-route buses operated by Cedar Rapids Transit. CRCSD high school students, Kirkwood Community College students, and Coe College students must show their school ID. CRCSD elementary and middle school students are not required to show their school ID.

Students attending other high schools, colleges, or universities served by Cedar Rapids Transit do not qualify for free fares as they do not participate in the sponsored student fare program.

Senior Passengers (age 65+) - qualify for free fares. Proof of age or a CR Transit Senior Free Fare ID Card are acceptable documents to qualify for the free fare.

Passengers with Disabilities - qualify for free fares with a valid CR Transit Disabled Free Fare ID Card.

Medicare Passengers - qualify for free fares. Proof of Medicare card or a CR Transit Disabled Free Fare ID Card is an acceptable document to qualify for the free fare.

Income-Based - qualify for free fares with a valid CR Transit Income-Based Free Half Fare ID card. Please read this Income-Based Free Fare Brochure, contact 319-286-5573, or email m.williams@cedar-rapids.org for more information.

Children Aged 12 and Under - aged 5 and under must be accompanied by a passenger that is 13 years or older.

Passengers who qualify for free fares must present proof of their free fare eligibility when riding the bus. Disabled & Senior Free Fare Applications are also available at the Information Booth at the GTC, please call 319-286-5573 or email m.williams@cedar-rapids.org for more information.
