Junk / Garbage
Have you noticed an unsightly accumulation of junk items or garbage on residential property -- possibly in someone's yard, on the driveway, or along the alley?
If you have, call 319-286-5890 and tell us the address. Our Nuisance Abatement Officer will take photos of the problem and send an Official Notice to the property owner directing them to clean up the mess.
If the owner fails to act on the direction, the officer will arrange for the collection of the items and a bill will be sent to the property owner. If the property owner fails to pay their bill for the clean-up, the charges are assessed against the property.
Noxious Weeds & Tall Grass Abatement
Have you seen a property that is overgrown with noxious weeds or tall grass?
If you have, call 319-286-5897 and tell us the address. Our Division will send an Official Notice to the property owner and then our Nuisance Abatement Worker will do a follow-up inspection within 4 days of sending the Official Notice.
If a property owner has failed to mow their property, the City of Cedar Rapids will authorize the mowing of the property and bill the property owner. If the property owner fails to pay their bill for the mowing, the charges are assessed against the property.
