The Cedar Rapids Water Pollution Control Facility (CRWPCF) receives and treats wastewater, also called sewage, from residents in Cedar Rapids. CRWPCF also serves surrounding communities including Marion, Hiawatha, Robins, Palo, parts of Fairfax and parts of Linn County. If your home has a septic system that is cleaned, many times that wastewater is brought to CRWPCF.

The CRWPCF also provides water treatment for industrial customers.

What is wastewater?
Wastewater is created from taking showers, flushing toilets, washing hands, brushing teeth, cooking, and many other uses. A family of four averages 400 gallons of water usage per day.

Why treat wastewater?
Efficiently treating wastewater protects the health of our community and our environment.
