Storm Damage at Summit View Manufactured Home Community

April 8, 2021

Cedar Rapids firefighters were dispatched on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 9:16 p.m. to 412 Troy Street SW, which is located inside Summit View Manufactured Homes community, for the report of a partial roof collapse.

The initial report indicated the neighbor’s roof had blown off and struck the manufactured home at 412 Troy Street SW.  The 911 caller indicated that their daughter was injured by glass and a laceration had been treated.

There was a thunderstorm moving through the area at the time of the call.  Upon arrival, firefighters found at least two manufactured homes with wind damage. No major injuries were reported.

There was concern that the homes may have been moved off of their foundations slightly, so Mid-American Energy was dispatched to the scene.  No gas odor or gas leaks were detected by fire crews on scene.

Summit View personnel were on scene assisting residents.

Additional homes in the area reportedly sustained damage to skirting, siding, and gutters.

The Fire Department has been advised that National Weather Service personnel will be assessing damage to determine if a tornado may have impacted the area.
