Hughes Park, 2100 Wilson Ave SW, will be closed through October for construction. The next stage of park development will include adding a primary trail, outdoor classroom, birding station, nature themed play areas, ballfield, and an open air pavilion. Additional improvements include prairie landscaping, educational markers, and electrical service. A life size metal sculpture of a Percheron horse pulling a cultivator, that was once used on the property when it functioned as a nursery, will be placed at the site. The park design will emphasize features around native trees, prairie and nature.
