Applications Now Open for City's Inaugural Community Water Academy

August 25, 2023

The City of Cedar Rapids is hosting its inaugural Community Water Academy this fall. Residents are invited to join the City in a four-part series designed to educate and empower the community with essential knowledge and skills related to water resources and conservation in the Cedar Rapids area. Through staff-led programming and tours, participants will gain an understanding of water management, sustainability, and the roles everyone plays in preserving water as a vital resource.

The Community Water Academy is free for participants, but spots are limited. The dates for the inaugural academy are:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 3, 3-5:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 10, 3-5:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 17, 3-5:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 24, 3-5:30 p.m.

The Community Water Academy takes a "One Water" approach, meaning that all forms of water and water management are equally important. This includes drinking water, stormwater, wastewater, source water, industrial water, watersheds, and all water quality efforts. The Community Water Academy will explore all aspects of water in the community.
