City Seeks Feedback on Greenway Parks Concepts

February 14, 2024

The City of Cedar Rapids will begin the second round of community engagement for the Greenway Parks Plan with an open house on Thursday, February 22, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at NewBo City Market, 1100 3rd Street SE. Concept plans for the Time Check, Riverfront and Czech Village Greenway Parks will be available to view and provide feedback on. Attendees will have the opportunity to identify which park amenities or features they’d like to see most. There will be no formal presentation at the open house, so anyone interested is invited to come and stay for as long or as little as they’d like. Staff will be available to discuss the project details and answer questions.

“We’ve incorporated the input we received last October in these new concept plans and are excited to see how people respond to them,” said Hashim Taylor, Director of Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation. “We are nearing the end of this planning project and eager to get started on the next phase of development.”

The Greenway Park concept plans will also be shared through an interactive online website where community members can explore the concepts in detail and provide feedback through a survey. The website and survey will be available on the Greenway Parks Plan project webpage (www.CityofCR.com/GreenwayPlan) on Wednesday, February 21 and will remain open through Wednesday, March 6. A detailed update on the project will be provided to the City Council Development Committee at their February 28, 2024, meeting. The presentation will be available for the public to view on the City’s Facebook page.
