Suspected Scam with Unauthorized Transactions

The Cedar Rapids Police Department has received two reports this week of individuals claiming to be City of Cedar Rapids employees requesting to pick up products or materials from local businesses.  In both cases, the individual or individuals involved allegedly used the name of a City employee as authorization to take the items.

Neither of the transactions were authorized and were not picked up or attempted to be picked up by City employees. 

The Police Department is recommending area businesses check the credentials of anyone claiming to represent the City of Cedar Rapids.  City employees have identification with both their name and their photograph.
