Cedar Rapids Council Member Swearing-In Ceremony January 9

The City of Cedar Rapids will host a swearing-in ceremony for the newly-elected members of the Cedar Rapids City Council on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers. A reception will follow the ceremony.

The council will welcome David Maier as a new At Large Representative, and At Large Representative Ann Poe, District 2 Representative Scott Overland, and District 4 Representative Scott Olson as returning council members. Each council member will serve a four-year term.

The Cedar Rapids City Council consists of nine members, including the mayor, who serve on staggered, four-year terms. The mayor and three council members are elected by all voters in Cedar Rapids. The remaining five council members are elected by voters in each of five districts. Other representatives include Mayor Tiffany O’Donnell, At Large Representative Tyler Olson, District 1 Representative Marty Hoeger, District 3 Representative Dale Todd, and District 5 Representative Ashley Vanorny.

For those elected to serve on Cedar Rapids City Council in the November election, the City Clerk administered official oaths prior to January 2, 2024, in accordance with State code.
