UPDATE: Winter Weather Impacting Solid Waste Collections

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – January 11, 2024 - Cedar Rapids solid waste collections have been cancelled for Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, due to anticipated snowfall and blizzard conditions in the forecast. All Friday garbage and recycling collection routes will be collected on Monday, Jan. 15. All Monday and Tuesday garbage and recycling collection routes will be collected on Tuesday, Jan. 16. Garbage and recycling collections will proceed as usual for the remainder of the week beginning Wednesday, Jan. 17. As for glass recycling and yard waste collection, glass and yard waste will not be collected Friday, Jan. 12, Monday, Jan. 15, or Tuesday, Jan. 16; glass recycling and yard waste collection will resume Wednesday, Jan. 17. Residents with collections on Monday, Jan. 15 and Tuesday, Jan. 16 are asked to hold onto their glass and yard waste collection until their normal collection day next week, the week of Jan. 22.
Friday, Jan. 12 – Garbage and recycling collection postponed until Monday, Jan. 15; glass and yard waste collection postponed until Friday, Jan. 19.
Monday, Jan. 15 – Garbage and recycling collection postponed until Tuesday, Jan. 16; glass and yard waste collection postponed until Monday, Jan. 22.
Tuesday, Jan. 16 – Garbage and recycling collection collected as regularly scheduled, on Tuesday, Jan. 16; glass and yard waste collection postponed until Tuesday, Jan. 23.
Wednesday, Jan. 17 – Regularly scheduled garbage, recycling, glass and yard waste collection.
Thursday, Jan. 18 – Regularly scheduled garbage, recycling, glass and yard waste collection.
Friday, Jan. 19 – Regularly scheduled garbage, recycling, glass and yard waste collection.
Carts can stay at collection areas until picked up -- "when in doubt, leave it out," even with a delay. For collection information, visit CityofCR.com/Garbage.
