The City of Cedar Rapids is celebrating its 175th Anniversary!
While Cedar Rapids' official date of incorporation is recognized as January 15, 1849, we are celebrating all year long with a series of special events — and inviting community organizations to join in the fun!
Our next event is Friday, January 19th at City Hall: Enjoy a guided tour of the historic Council Chamber murals at by the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art Executive Director Sean Ulmer. The tour will take place at Noon on Friday, January 19. Meet at the City Hall main floor lobby and take in the Traveling Cedar Rapids History Exhibit while gathering.
Last week, City leaders and residents dedicated a time capsule commemorating our past and present — set to be opened in 2074!
