Share Your Input in Our Survey for the Police Chief Candidate Profile

The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the City of Cedar Rapids invite Cedar Rapids community members to participate in a survey to inform the City’s search for a new Police Chief. The survey will help IACP define the qualifications for an ideal Chief of Police candidate, based on the needs of our community. The survey is open to all community members. Cedar Rapids residency is not a requirement.

The survey will be available through September 10, 2023 on the City's website.

“The Chief of Police is a highly visible and influential leader, touching various aspects of our City,” said City Manager Jeff Pomeranz. “Gathering input from the community is absolutely critical as we work to identify the most suitable candidate to fill this important position.”

The City of Cedar Rapids is committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all. Community members of any and all: ethnicities, cultures, and races; gender expressions, LGBTQIA, and gender-queer communities; all levels of mental and physical ability; and religious, spiritual, and nonspiritual traditions are welcome and encouraged to participate in the survey. An optional demographic portion of the survey will assist the City in ensuring feedback is received from a full spectrum of our community’s demographics.

Once the survey is closed, IACP will collect information from the survey to create a candidate profile.

The City recognizes some individuals may require accommodations to fully participate in the survey process. Anyone who requires a modification of procedures to participate should email Amanda Grieder at a.grieder@cedar-rapids.org as soon as possible, but no later than Noon on Thursday, September 7, 2023.
